Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Verina Wild is Senior Teaching and Research Associate at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics, University of Zurich and has served intermittently as Deputy Director of the Institute. From Feb to May 2014 she is visiting researcher at the Department of Philosophy and Political Theory (Prof. Julian Nida-Rümelin) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. Verina Wild coordinates the classes of medical ethics in the first and third year of medicine at the University of Zurich and has extensively developed concepts and material for these courses. Since 2008 she is member of the Executive Committee (Leitungsausschuss) of the Center of Ethics, University of Zurich. She serves as a consultant ethicist in the EU-FP7 DALI project (Dali Project) and the EU-project Credits-4-Health (in association with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich). She is currently holding the post as country representative for Switzerland for the International Network on Feminist Approaches to Bioethics: FAB. In 2011 she was visiting research fellow at the "Center for the History and Ethics of Public Health" of the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University New York. From 2008 - 2010 she was in the steering group for the Clinical Ethics Committee at the University Hospital Zurich as has intermittently served as Clinical Ethicist. For her work on drug research on pregnant women she received the German Young Scholars Award in Medical Ethics. Before joining IBME she worked as a physician in internal medicine in Berlin, Germany. During her studies she worked in hospitals in Tansania, Scotland, Spain, Argentina. She was DAAD / Carlo Schmid scholar at the Ethics and Health Unit, World Health Organization Geneva and Erasmus Mundus scholar in Tenerife, Spain.
